Alberto, grazie cazzo.
ViewItem&item=3725711033&ssPageName=ADME:B:BN:IT:1
Here's Scott on the latest (Feb 2005) gear updates:
I'm playing a new Suhr guitar on the upcoming tour, my first strat with a maple neck. Contrary to what I've heard about them (sounding thinner), it seems to me that it's fatter and way more punchy, especially in the low end.
I've got Kinman AVn 56 noiseless pickups in it and they sound unbelievably close to John's V60's. It's amazing to have the tone without the hum.
I put a Fender six screw vintage bridge on one of my strats so I could compare it with a Gotoh 1088 which is my normal bridge. It has more bass and low mids so it sounds bigger and chunkier, but it also gets a little thin on the high notes and doesn't sound as fat in the high mids like a 1088. I was thinking I'd end up liking one or the other, but they're both great bridges.
For OD-100 users:
Martin Golub at Custom Audio did a crunch mod and FX loop on an old '71 Marshall for me which I used at my last gig at La Ve Lee. It brought back memories of my youth, having not played a Marshall on stage for about 30 years... the amp sounds awesome but it's not something I want airport monkeys throwing around, so I talked to John Suhr and he may offer a version of the OD-100 cloning that circuit, transformer, and tubes. Might be cool for the players who are more into the vintage Marshall tone.
The OD-100 can already get really close to that sound either by using the boost on channel two, or using channel two (bright switch in) as the crunch channel with pedals, which is what I've been doing lately.
